So this is the first album I will review solely because its big on my playlist at the moment and its from arguably the best era on rap music.

Xzibit - At The Speed Of Life - Review

This album was released on 10 September 2006 and was Xzibit's debut album. It was released on Loud/RCA and contained very few guest appearances the most notable being Ras Kass.

The typical intros etc are included in this album. They do nothing for me on any album besides Wu Tangs. The album starts well with "At the speed of Life" and continues through with a strong track list the most notable for me being "eyes may shine", "birds eye view" & "Positively Negative".

Xzibit shows real lyrical power throughout the album along with a slick rhythm and a real gritty passion. This album I feel puts Xzibit into the upper echelons of rap. The album often focuses on addiction and in particular alcoholism. Xzibit describes his upbringing, struggles and successes. The album has a very gritty and real feel to it. Xzibit's voice and style makes this a real street album.

Beat wise the album cannot be knocked. The beats compliment Xzibit and vice versa. This album is easy to listen to at anytime. This for me is one of the most slept on rap albums of all time. It easilly sits up with some of Nas's best rap albums of the 90s.

I would rate this album a straight 5 out of 5! This is a must have album for any rap fan.
